A huge shout out and salute to some members of our HD community who have shown that anyone who is passionate about a cause can, through creativity, innovation and working as a team, achieve greatness. No matter where they live.
The Graham girls from left to right are Tania Graham, Charlotte Graham, Emily Thomas, Isabelle Graham & Phoebe Graham. They are a family touched by HD from country SA, who set upon a mission to raise awareness & funds for those with and affected by HD.
They set up a go fund me page which was worded……….
“Hi we’re the Graham Girls and the month of May is Huntington’s Disease Awareness Month.
We want to also raise awareness as we believe knowledge is power & the more people who understand HD the more people suffering from this cruel disease can talk about it & not feel so alone.
We will be walking/running 100kms each for the duration of May to raise money for Huntington’s & raise awareness to help people understand a bit more about HD.
Thank you for supporting our cause it means the world to us.”
Their amazing efforts raised $2500 for those with and impacted by Huntington’s disease.
Thank you, girls, for this fabulous effort.
On July 19th Liz Thompson (back row in green) and James Draxler (front row centre) were present at an award ceremony to receive a cheque and certificate from Marion Council Mayor, Chris Hannah, for the Association.
James is a volunteer with the Association and it was his idea to have a community disability friendly garden using the edges of the Association carpark which can be accessed and utilised by those in wheelchairs and those people who have limited bending ability. Within the Glandore area there are many people in this situation as are many of our members. They enjoy gardening but are unable to do it the way you and I do it. This initiative turns disability into ability. Well done James and Liz.
Help us reach our goal of $25000 by joining a team, creating your own team under the Huntington's Legends.
We would like to thank the great team at Edwardstown Bunnings for their terrific ongoing support, our valued volunteers who always have a smile on their faces and make our Barbecue days such a success and all who support us by purchasing our delicious sausages.
Pre-Covid fun at a BBQ
